Becki Newton

Becki Newton, born from New Haven in Connecticut, was raised in Guilford within Connecticut. She's English and Czech descent. She began putting on performances and musicals at local theaters, and studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with an B.A. of European History. Newton in European History, who was a Penn students, was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega. Newton, after graduating from Penn University in 2006 relocated into New York City where she found roles on TV for corporations like Olive Garden. Newton portrayed the character Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama program Ugly Betty from 2006 to the year 2010. With co-star Michael Urie, Newton co-hosted the Ugly Betty podcast, which was created by Michael Urie. She also appeared on ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours Webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in the year 2010 following four seasons of success that allowed the show a full-on series end. At the end of 2009, Newton performed at a New York City Center Encores! Jerry Zaks directed the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy. Newton starred as Molly Gray opposite her real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton was a part of Love Bites. The romantic comedy of an hour was created by the executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked for Sex and the City. NBC has announced the return of the series in May 2010.However there was a rift in the series, which began with Newton announcement of her baby, co-star Jordana Spiro was bound by a contract to stay with her other program My Boys (which was later cancelled) and Chupack's desire to exit the show Love Bites was pushed back to midseason.
